BWE Covid Policy

BWE Covid Policy 11/12/2020

If and when any homeowner has a health issue, the law provides confidentiality to those affected. HIPPA laws also protect the anonymity of patients.  But, in a small building, such as BWE, if an owner/renter/employee or guest has Covid-19 owners/guests/renters/employees in the building may be impacted. Based on that reality the following is offered as suggested BWE voluntary Covid-19 procedures, to supplement state and national requirements:

  1. Immediately upon learning of a positive diagnosis of Covid-19 of an owner/resident/guest/employee, while at BWE, the resident/owner/guest/employee affected should send a written email to the Manager and President of the Board notifying that they were diagnosed with Covid-19 and when it may have first occurred. This information may be shared with the building without identifying the affected individual.
  2. If prior personal contact had been made, between a person affected and any owner/resident/guest/employee, etc, the affected person should attempt to make personal contact, through telephone call or email, with anyone they came in contact with to advise of their current health issue. This allows others the opportunity to take whatever precautions they choose necessary for their own safety (and in cases such as Covid-19 to take a test if they so desire).
  3. Self-quarantine of the person affected, within their individual unit, should be voluntarily continued until released by the appropriate medical/health professional of the resident.
  4. Upon being released from treatment; and or the discontinuation of symptoms/treatment, the affected person should notify the building manager and President of the Board of their updated status.
  5. Mask wearing, as directed by health officials should be maintained.
